Vladimir Botchkarev

Prof. Vladimir Botchkarev, MD, PHD, FRSB Head of the Laboratory of Skin Development, Regeneration and Carcinogenesis Deputy Director of the Centre for Skin Sciences, University of Bradford Adjunct Professor of Dermatology and Pathology, Boston University School of Medicine Vladimir Botchkarev is currently Professor of Cutaneous Biology and Deputy Director of the Centre for Skin Sciences at the University of Bradford (UK), and Adjunct Professor of Dermatology & Pathology at Boston University (USA). He has directed the Laboratory of Skin Development, Regeneration and Carcinogenesis since 1999. Vladimir studied Medicine at Chuvash State University (Russia), got his PhD in Cell Biology in 1988, and was trained in Humboldt University Berlin in the laboratory of Ralf Paus in 1994-1999. In 1999, Vladimir moved to Boston University and developed an independent NIH-funded research program to define mechanisms that control skin development, regeneration and carcinogenesis. Botchkarev’s laboratory partially relocated to the University of Bradford in 2007, where together with his colleagues he established the Centre for Skin Sciences in 2009. Botchkarev continues supervising a lab in Boston University together with his former fellow Dr. Andrey Sharov, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at BU.
